Meet our speakers

Dr Joanna Kemp

Joanna joined the EDU in August 2023 as the EDI Programme Manager where it is her role to develop and oversee delivery of the EDI Strategic Plan for the collegiate University (2024-2027). This work recognises that having an inclusive culture, in which everyone can grow and flourish, is essential to our continued success as a world-leading institution. Therefore, it is vital that at Oxford University, everyone does inclusion. Joanna has worked in widening participation, community engagement and EDI for eight years and holds a PhD in Classics and Ancient History from the University of Warwick.

Laura joined the EDU in July 2023, as Equality Advisor for Insights and Engagement, and has worked at the University since 2014. Laura’s responsibilities include the Public Sector Equality Duty, where she has responsibility for co-ordinating and drafting the annual Equality, Diversity & Inclusion report, sharing the progress made towards the University’s Equality Objectives and advancing equality more broadly, as well as work on promoting and supporting equality analysis and positive action.  Laura also manages the University’s Staff Experience Survey, planning, co-ordinating, and delivering the biennial survey and preparing insights from the results to inform University strategic projects and workstreams, to aid decision making. Laura is a qualified HR professional with over 25 years’ experience working in HR Generalist, Learning and Development and EDI roles.

Steph Perrin

Steph plays a key role in shaping and delivering plans to strengthen EDI for the Agile Initiative (2022-2027). Funded by the Natural Environment Research Council, Agile aims to develop policy-relevant, interdisciplinary research for evidence-based decision making in the field of environmental science. Steph’s work on EDI spans across Agile’s research, capacity development, outreach, communications, and monitoring and evaluation. Steph has over eight years of experience in international and community development and holds a master’s degree in international studies from Simon Fraser University.
