Socioeconomic status and class remain underexamined in many conversations about equality, diversity and inclusion. This Roundtable will consider the state of socioeconomic disadvantage in the UK and how it shapes British society, and explore how socioeconomic status can be better incorporated into an EDI agenda.
How should we respond to debates about the future of the Equality Act and concerns about protected characteristics not including socioeconomic status? What is the impact of class on access, outcomes and experiences in higher education? And how can Oxford build on its work on access, participation and outreach to ensure there is continued progress?
Confirmed speakers include:
- Claire Ainsley, Director, Progressive Policy Institute
- Nick Harrison, Chief Executive, Sutton Trust
