My role as EDI Data and Insights Officer involves supporting the College's EDI Committee in its work by analysing data in light of protected characteristics and using this to provide informed recommendations for College leadership. I am also collecting data from students on their sense of belonging, using focus groups and surveys, and helping develop a programme of EDI events, including those related to LGBT+ History Month.

As an out gay/queer man, I am keen to offer support to anyone in our wider LGBTQ+ community in the University. I know firsthand some of the challenges that can come with being LGBTQ+ in cisheteronormative institutions and I'm keen to provide help to those that need it, whether that be practical advice or a listening ear.

I feel that being a role model is a great way to give back to our community and would encourage everyone to participate in the training - I found the experience really useful and rewarding, and it is a great way to learn from other members of the community.
