I work within Student Registry, and am based in the Examination Schools, which has a lot of footfall throughout the year from students, academics, administrative staff, and external visitors attending conferences. While I have always considered myself as a LGBT+ Ally, working in such a public space within the University has highlighted the importance of signalling my support more visibly and proactively. It felt important to me to add my voice to the many at the University, who already say: “Here, you are safe to be you: this an environment which is welcoming to all – and, where there is room for improvement, I will join in the efforts to help make it so”.
