Professor Matt Jarvis

I am a Professor of Physics and Associate Head of the MPLS division (People), which basically means helping change the culture within our University with a focus on ED&I and our researcher community Over the past five years of actively working on ED&I within the University I’ve learn a huge amount, but in particular the fact that, as a cisgender white man, my voice often gets listened to above others, much to my annoyance. Therefore, I was conscious that I needed to use this to be a good ally to all those people who’s voices are not heard as much or as loudly. I hope that I am able to do this and help all of the people in our University to feel like they belong and to thrive here.
