Why does race equality matter and what can we do to make it a reality here at Oxford?
6 February 2023
6 to 12 February is Race Equality week – an opportunity for us all to recognise the barriers to race equality, and affirm our commitment to breaking these down.
To mark the week, staff and students from across the university share their views on why race equality matters and what we can do to make it a reality.
The University’s Chief Diversity Officer Tim Soutphommasane said:
Taking action on race equality is part of our work to build an inclusive culture at Oxford. We can all do our part to promote equality and ensure all staff and students can feel that they belong. Whether it’s through a conversation, showing support, or an activity or program in your part of the university, everyone can make a difference.
There is more to do, and we will continue to be ambitious in delivering the University’s Race Equality Strategy.
